The City of Highland Park is undertaking a trauma-informed planning process to create a permanent place of remembrance that will pay tribute to the memory of the seven victims of the Highland Park shooting, create a space(s) for reflection, remembrance, and solace, and honor the community’s resiliency, especially those who were injured.

The design concepts for the Highland Park Place of Remembrance are ready for review. View the three concepts for the primary Place of Remembrance at the Rose Garden and the subtle, secondary site at Port Clinton Plaza.

A working group of elected officials and staff from the City, Park District of Highland Park, and Josselyn will guide the planning process and make recommendations to the City Council. All meetings are open to the public.
Public Planning Process
Community Engagement
Comprehensive community input will be sought before any final decisions are made by the City Council. The goal is to maximize the inclusion of different perspectives by offering multiple opportunities and formats to share feedback and ideas.
The City of Highland Park Resiliency Division provides assistance to individuals directly impacted by the shooting, including short-term counseling, resources and referrals. case management and needs assessments, and assistance in navigating victims’ compensation.
